Supported Hardware
Encircle’s Insta360 integration supports the following Insta360 models:
Install an SD Card
If your camera is brand new, you must install a microSD card in order for it to capture and store photos properly. These can be purchased directly from Insta360 or from a 3rd party. If purchasing from a 3rd party, make sure to follow Insta360’s guidelines for compatibility.
Activate the Camera
Install the Insta360 App
The initial activation must be completed via the Insta360 app. Install the Insta360 app on your phone and create a login. This is a free account; no subscription or payment info is required. You are downloading the Insta360 app primarily for the purpose of setting up the initial connection.
Connect Your Camera to Your Phone
Before completing the following steps, ensure that WiFi and Bluetooth are enabled on your phone.
Power your camera on and follow any setup instructions that appear on screen such as selecting a language, completing a tutorial walkthrough, etc. Then complete these steps using your phone:
- Open the Insta360 app on your phone and tap the yellow camera icon.
- The app will detect your nearby camera. Tap Connect.
-
The app will initiate the connection to your camera; this takes a few moments.
- On the camera's screen, confirm the connection when prompted.
- When prompted to join the camera's WiFi network, tap Join.
- Allow a few more moments while the camera finishes connecting.
-
When complete, you'll see your camera listed at the top left corner of the app.
*Make sure that you allow the app access to Bluetooth and local WiFi networks when prompted.
Once you have activated the camera, you're ready to start capturing 360° photos in Encircle!
Extend Auto Sleep & Auto Power Off Mode
By default, the camera’s battery saving features are set pretty aggressively. To prevent the camera from going to sleep or shutting off while you’re using it, consider extending the Auto Sleep and Auto Power Off settings. Instructions for this can be found on Insta360’s support site.
