Box-Labeling Preferences
Any items that are getting packed out will need to be assigned to a box. Box labels can be done using QR codes or manually.
QR scanning is the default box-labeling method in Encircle. If you do not wish to use QR codes, you can go into your user preferences and change the default behavior for box labels. This will bypass the QR scanning screen.
*If your team prefers to use QR code scanning, leave this setting as-is.
QR Labels
Before the job, generate your QR labels from the web app and print them out using any standard or direct-thermal printer, depending on the type of labels your team will be using. They can be customized with tags, color coding, and text labels to suit your company’s processes.
When you’re capturing an item, all you have to do is have the code appear somewhere in the camera’s view. This means you can assign a box before photographing the item.
Otherwise, if you’ve already snapped an item photo:
- Tap Start Box.
- Point your phone at the label to scan.
- Tap the pop-up to confirm.
- If it’s a new box, select a Box Type such as “small”, “medium”, “large”, etc.
-
The box number will appear at the top left corner of the screen.
The box number is “sticky”, meaning it will carry forward from item to item. This is to save you time in the field, so that you don't have to update this for each new item.
When you start packing a new box, simply scan a new QR code and select a box type.
Manual Box Labels
If you’re not using QR codes, label your boxes manually.
- Tap Start Box.
- Select Add Manually. [You can skip this step if you have disabled QR scanning by default].
- Select a Number for your box, along with a Prefix. The prefix is optional, but it is highly encouraged to prevent duplicate box numbers. For example, “Living Room 1”, “Living Room 2”, “Kitchen 1”, “Kitchen 2”, and so on.
-
Tap Set Box.
- Select a Box Type.
-
The box number will appear at the top left corner of the screen, and can be updated from there.
The box number will carry forward from item to item until you're ready to start a new box. When you get to the next box, tap the Box Number field and select the next number in the sequence. Then select Switch Box.
Packing Large Items
For items that are too large to fit in a box, we suggest having a box type called "Tag" or something similar.
Can QR codes be re-used between claims?
No, they can only be used in one claim once in their lifetime. If a user scans a QR code that has already been used on another job, that box name is converted into a plain-text (manual) box label. When this happens, a warning will be visible from the Network Settings page.
QR code box labels are denoted with a QR icon. Plain-text box labels are denoted with a box icon.
