Glossary of Terms

Psychrometric References Use your thermohygrometer to capture ambient environmental conditions such as temperature and relative humidity.
Exterior Reading The outside of the structure that is not impacted by any controlled air from the structure.
Unaffected Area Reading The part of the structure that is not directly impacted by the water loss and is located behind or in a different atmosphere.
Unaffected Area HVAC Reading Temperature and humidity readings from the heating and ventilation system outside of the drying chamber (if present and active).

Exterior Reading

You can enter this reading manually from your hygrometer or automatically using our weather API integration.

To enter the reading manually:

  1. Go outside the property. Open the Exterior Reading task.
  2. Let your meter acclimate, then tap Add Meter Photo to capture the display. Reading photos are optional, but they really beef up your dry logs.
  3. Enter the Temperature and Relative Humidity.
  4. (Optional) add a note (e.g., location of the reading).
  5. Tap Save.

*Data for these readings is sourced from weatherapi.com. Real-time or current weather data comes from thousands of live weather stations and personal weather stations from around the world. These are updated by weatherapi.com every 10-15 min.

Weather conditions for your readings are based on your location and the latest reading from a select local weather station near you. Depending on the station and the time of their latest reading, there may be some variance from hygrometer.

Unaffected Area Reading

Go back inside, into a room that's not impacted by water damage.

  1. Open the Unaffected Area Reading task.
  2. Select the room where you'll be taking the reading or tap +Add to create one if needed.
  3. Tap Add Meter Photo and snap a meter photo.
  4. Enter the Temperature and Relative Humidity.
  5. Tap Save.

Unaffected Area HVAC Reading

The unaffected HVAC reading is an important reading, because you don’t want to be transferring moisture from the affected areas or drying chambers into an unaffected area, causing secondary damage. It’s easy to accidentally move moisture into these unaffected spaces through the HVAC system. So you’ll want to take a measurement there and check to see whether you’re getting anything out of it.

  1. Open the Unaffected Area HVAC Reading task.
  2. Indicate whether there’s an HVAC system and if you want to monitor it.
    • If you choose No, the app will bypass this reading and will not prompt you for it going forward.
    • If you choose Yes, you'll be prompted to take the HVAC reading and it will be added to your daily readings for the job.
  3. Tap Save.

To take the reading:

  1. The room selection will default to the same room where you logged your Unaffected Area Reading. This can be changed using the dropdown up top if desired.
  2. Tap Add Meter Photo and snap a meter photo (holding your meter up to the vent).
  3. Enter the Temperature and Relative Humidity.
  4. Tap Save.
