Room & Affected Area Dimensions

Learn how to to enter your room and affected surface area dimensions into Hydro for your equipment calculations. Watch the following video or refer to the instructions below.

These measurements are key for calculating your air movers, dehumidifiers, and ensuring you size the job properly. A little bit of time spent here will actually help generate revenue and ensure you dry the building better.

Room Dimensions

*You'll need to to do this for each room in the chamber, including any unaffected rooms. Unaffected rooms do count toward your total chamber size, so make sure not to skip them.

  1. Open the Room and Affected Area Dimensions task. You’ll see all the rooms in your chamber listed.
  2. Select a room.
  3. Choose the room shape (e.g.rectangular, L-shaped, etc.). Room Dimensions 1-3.png
  4. Tap on the room drawing at the top of the page.
  5. Enter your wall measurements.
  6. Tap Complete.
  7. Enter the average ceiling height for the room. This, along with the wall measurements, will give you the total surface area and total volume.

Affected Area Dimensions

*If the room has been designated as affected, you’ll need to add the dimensions for the affected surface area of the wet materials.

By default, this is entered as a percentage to make entry quick and easy. If you prefer to enter precise measurements, you can switch to Measured Mode. For our example we will use percentages.

To enter the affected area dimensions:

  1. Enter the percentage of the floor that is affected.
    • The affected floor space includes the bottom 2 ft of the wall by default, per IICRC S500 standards.
  2. Enter the percentage of the walls that are affected above 2 ft.
    • If the walls aren’t affected above 2 feet, leave the field blank.
  3. Enter the percentage of the ceiling that is affected.
  4. Indicate any insets, offsets, or obstructions larger than 18 inches.
  5. (Optional) Use a note to add any relevant details about the insets, offsets, or obstructions you entered above.
  6. Tap Complete.

Ensure that Room & Affected Area Dimensions are done for each room in the chamber. Tap Complete Task.
