Glossary of Terms
Room Moisture Map | A moisture map is a visual representation of the extent of water damage to the affected room. It includes details about the loss, the affected materials, materials of concern, materials to be removed, or materials that have already been removed. |
Moisture Point | The purpose of a moisture point is to create a repeatable measurement location of various materials within the drying chamber. Each point is measured, monitored, and recorded to indicate the effectiveness of the drying plan. |
Moisture Content Readings | A reading taken from the affected material identified as a moisture point located in the drying chamber. |
Creating Moisture Maps with Moisture Points
To create a moisture map:
- Open the Room Moisture Map task.
- Tap Add next to the room where you want to create a moisture map.
-
Choose a method to create your moisture map. For our example we will create moisture maps from our floor plan.
- Select the floor plan image.
- Drag the orange lines to crop the room.
- Tap Save.
- Tap on the new moisture map to open it.
Now, you'll want to indicate where the water was:
- Tap Draw.
- Select the Freehand option.
- The Line & Fill colors will default to blue. Tap Save.
- Draw in the water.
You may want to go ahead and plot your moisture points on the map. For this:
- Tap Place.
- Select Place New.
- Drag the moisture point icon onto the map where you want it. (To resize, use a two-finger pinch gesture).
- Select the material(s) that you’ll be sampling at that point. If you’re sampling multiple materials at this location, it’s best to add them all to the same moisture point here in Encircle.
You'll be asked if you want to go ahead and take a reading. For this:
- Tap Yes.
- Select the material you're adding the reading for.
- Tap Add Meter Photo and snap your meter photo.
- Enter the Moisture Content. Surface Temperature is optional.
- Tap Save.
- Repeat this for the rest of the moisture points in the room.
Adding Moisture Points without a Moisture Map
You may want to place your moisture points without a map, especially if you're waiting for your floor plan to finish processing. For this, you can create your moisture points in bulk and add readings. We'll show you below how to place them on the map when you're ready.
- Open the Moisture Point task.
- Tap Place Moisture Points in the room where you’re logging your readings.
- Select the material(s) for the moisture point.
- Tap Done.
To continue setting up additional moisture points:
- Open the room where you just placed your first moisture point.
- Tap the red + button.
- Select Moisture Point.
- Select the material(s) for the moisture point.
- Tap Done.
- Repeat for the rest of the moisture points in the room.
To add readings to these moisture points that you just added:
- Tap on a material to enter a reading for it.
- Tap Add Meter Photo and snap your meter photo.
- Enter the Moisture Content. Surface Temperature is optional.
- Tap Save.
- Repeat this for the rest of the moisture points in the room.
Placing Existing Moisture Points on a Moisture Map
If you didn’t create a moisture map right away, or if you took readings while waiting for a floor plan to process, you can place existing moisture points on a map once it's ready.
- Open the Room Moisture Map task.
- Open the moisture map or create one if you haven't already.
- Tap Place.
- Select Place Existing.
- Tap the Moisture Point tab.
- Choose Place All to drop all existing moisture points onto the map.
- Drag the points to their positions on the map.

Material readings can also be taken via bluetooth with the Tramex MEX5 or CME5 meters.
